Sacred Circuit Bike Tour The bike Tour  of Temples and Shrines

Spend the day exploring the historic Khmer Empire's finest relics. Marvel at Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and the enigmatic Ta Prohm Temple, which are epic monuments to Cambodia's rich history.

Sacred Circuit Bike Tour

On the Sacred Circuit Bike Tour, guests are guided through Cambodia’s ancient Angkor complex, cycling along secluded paths that reveal layers of history and spiritual significance. Beginning at Angkor Thom’s South Gate, where bikes await, participants are introduced to a network of hidden trails leading to seldom-seen temples.

These lesser-known paths, lined with jungle foliage, open up views of mystical structures like Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei, illustrating the enduring legacy of Khmer architecture. Midway through, a lunch overlooking Sra Srang offers a tranquil pause, followed by a visit to a local Wat, where the “Srouch Tec” ritual is performed; here, a monk’s blessing is said to cleanse the spirit and foster renewal. This tour provides not only an intimate view of Angkor’s sacred spaces but also a deeply immersive experience into Cambodia’s cultural heritage.

Begin your day with a scenic drive to the south gate, where bicycles ready to take you on a journey via hidden lanes and lesser-known temples.

  • Discover Hidden Treasures: Cycle along Angkor Thom’s lesser-known walls, uncovering secret corners and jungle trails to find mystical temples such as Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei.
  • Cultural Immersion: Begin with the lovely smiles of Bayon at the East Gate, then go on a journey along hidden routes to immerse yourself in the region’s rich history and beauty.
  • Lunch with a View: Enjoy a scrumptious lunch while viewing Sra Srang’s royal bathing pool, which is surrounded by echoes of ancient monarchy.
  • Sacred Blessing Ceremony: Attend an active Wat for the transforming “Srouch Tec” rite, in which a monk’s blessings purify negativity while bringing renewal and good fortune.

Itinerary

This morning, at 7:30 a.m., your guide will meet you at the hotel after breakfast, and together you will drive inside the temple complex, passing through the peaceful morning until you arrive at the south gate of Angkor Thom, where your bicycles await. Pedal along the lesser-known wall of Angkor Thom, which includes a jungle track leading to one of the lesser-known corner temples before arriving at the East Gate, where the placid faces of Bayon greet you.

Continuing your adventure through the bush, you will discover beautiful secret temples such as Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei, two of the complex’s most exquisite gems. Finish your exploration with a delicious lunch overlooking the royal bathing pool at Sra Srang.

Your guide will next accompany you to an active Wat, where you should change into wetsuit-appropriate clothing before participating in the “Srouch Tec” rite, which means “pour water.” A monk will sing in ancient Pali while sprinkling water on you, metaphorically washing away any sins and bad luck, allowing you a new beginning and the possibility of enhanced good fortune.

Please keep in mind that due to the nature of the event, we recommend changing into proper apparel prior to the tour or carrying a change of clothes with you. The cycling distance is roughly 15-20 kilometres.
